Prostate Cancer: Signs & Symptoms

Last week, we highlighted how to check yourself for testicular cancer, but prostate cancer can be more difficult to detect. The only way to be sure that cancer is present is with blood tests, scans and surgery -which your doctor can refer you for.

Knowing when to get checked out by your doctor is critical for getting the right follow up before prostate cancer has a chance to spread. Blood and pain during sex and urination are common first signs.

Muscle and general fatigue are other symptoms, as well as pain in the abdomen and pelvic area. Changes to urination habits such as increased frequency and reduced stream strength may or may not appear. As with many illnesses, symptoms vary between individuals.
